About the Physical Ability Testing Process
Minimum Requirements
Applicant must be 21 years of age by employment date
Applicant must complete an employment application
Applicant must CURRENTLY possess the following certifications or licenses
Certified as Basic Firefighter
Certified as Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic.
Class C Drivers License (must agree to obtain Class B with Firefighter Exemption)
Applicant must not have any prior Felony or DWI convictions
Applicant must not have more than three Class C misdemeanor traffic violations in the last three years
Applicant may not be color blind in both eyes
Applicant's visual acuity must be correctable to 20/40
Applicant must be able to pass the following tests/exams:
Physical
Ability Test
Written test of Fire knowledge
Polygraph and Psychological
examinations
Medical physical including cardiac
treadmill and strength testing
Personal background investigation
